Daddy/Daughter Dance

On April 12th, the FFA hosted the annual Daddy Daughter Dance. They were able to raise about $2,600 from ticket sales. They want to say thank you to everyone who came to the dance and made it possible!

On April 16th, the Middle School Track & Field team brought energy and excellence to the Hastings Invite! With multiple 1st-place finishes, personal records, and strong performances across the board, our Lions made their presence known.

On April 17th, the Middle School Track & Field team hosted Concord and Union City for a Big 8 conference meet. It was a strong showing across the board with several PRs and event wins!

On April 15th, the Varsity Baseball team hosted the Bronson Vikings for a competitive doubleheader. Game one was a pitcher’s duel, with the Lions narrowly falling 0-1. Game two ended in a hard-fought 6-6 tie, with both teams battling until the final out. Great effort from the Lions as they continue to push through the early season!

On April 17th, the Varsity Baseball team traveled to Union City for a doubleheader. The Lions battled hard but came up short, losing game one 2–11 and game two 2–9. The team continues to push forward with determination as they work through the season.

Maple Valley hosted the Ken Beardslee Wooden Bat Invitational on April 19th. The Lions battled hard in their opening game against Saranac but came up just short in a 3–4 loss. They bounced back strong in Game 2, taking down Homer with an impressive 11–2 win.


On April 15th, the Girls Soccer team traveled to Calhoun Christian for an intense matchup. Despite their best efforts on the field, the Lady Lions fell short with a 0-5 loss. The team continues to grow and improve with each game.

On April 16th, Girls Soccer team faced a tough matchup as they traveled to Quincy. Despite a strong effort, they fell 0–7. The team continues to show determination as they push through a challenging early season.


On April 16th, the Varsity Track & Field team traveled to Concord to compete in a Big 8 meet. Our athletes brought their best with multiple podium finishes, a number of personal records, and outstanding efforts in both track and field events!

On April 17th, the JV Baseball team hosted Union City for a doubleheader. The Lions came up short in both games, falling 0–15 in game one and 2–13 in game two. The team looks to keep building experience as the season progresses.


On April 19th, the Lions took on some serious competition at the Lakewood Invitational. With schools like Harper Creek, Sparta, Ionia, and more in attendance, Maple Valley held their own with grit, sportsmanship, and a whole bunch of PRs.

On April 17th, the Softball team traveled to Union City for a tough doubleheader against the Chargers. Game 1: Maple Valley fell short, losing 1–14. Game 2: Union City continued their momentum, defeating the Lions 0–16. Despite the score, the Lions showed grit and determination throughout both matchups and continue to grow as a team heading into the rest of the season.


On April 14th, the Golf team competed in a Big 8 Jamboree against Bronson, Quincy, Union City, Stockbridge, and Springport at Concord Hills Golf Course.

Activites/Clubs

Spring Play

Early this month (April 4th, 5th, and 6th), the Maple Valley Theater Program performed "And Then There Were None," an Agatha Christie play. They performed very well and brought much excitement for the first non-musical play at the school in years.

Sign Painting in Vermontville

On April 26th, the FFA chapter painted the signs in Vermontville and helped make our community look even better!

Band Visit to Thornapple Manor

The Maple Valley Jazz and High School bands traveled to Thornapple Manor on Thursday, April 17th, to play for the residents, who were all very thankful! The staff there shared that the people don’t get many live performances, so it was very appreciated.

Staff Highlight

Mr. Aaron Saari, Agriscience teacher and FFA Advisor, is a proud Michigan State University alumnus who came to Maple Valley to strengthen a struggling program. Over the years, he has created strong relationships with the students, teachers, and families. A big fan of MSU sports, he enjoys cheering on his teams in his free time. His advice to students is heartfelt: “As you leave here, don’t forget where you came from, and the people that helped you in life.”
