Senior Highlights

Brianna Gurd

After high school, Brianna plans to attend GVSU for four years and get a degree in creative works. The staff member who has had the biggest impact on her is Mrs. Webb because she has stayed her teacher throughout high school and is one of the only original teachers sitting at graduation with her. Something Brianna looks forward to after graduation is getting to enjoy one last summer with friends and family before real adulting begins. Some advice she would like to give to incoming freshmen is, “Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Freshman year is hard, but it’s easier when you’re not alone, and you’re never alone.” The highlight of her senior year was finally getting a break from all of the big tests.

Alyssa Harrington

After high school, Alyssa plans to attend LCC for either phlebotomy or to become an ultrasound technician. The staff member who has had the biggest impact on her is Mrs. Webb because she pushes everyone to be more and brings so much positivity in the hallways and in the classroom. Something that she is looking forward to after graduation is having a diploma in hand and being able to sleep in. Some advice she would like to give to incoming freshmen is, “ASK QUESTIONS!!! Don’t be afraid to look ‘dumb’!” The highlight of her senior year was spending the mornings before school with her best friends.

Staff Highlight

Mr. Tim Goggins, Jr./Sr High School Principal, is a graduate of Western Michigan University and Western Governors University. Encouraged by Dr. Bertolini to step into this leadership role, he now enjoys getting to know both students and staff at Maple Valley. Outside of school, he loves spending time at his lake lot, fishing, grilling, and relaxing by the campfire. His advice to students is to enjoy school and live in the moment because “life gets tougher as you go along.”
