Technology Update

Please take a moment to read this letter from Mr. Goggins in regard to the new Chromebooks being distributed.

Dear Maple Valley Jr./Sr. High School Families,

Good news!!! Maple Valley Schools has received a substantial grant which has allowed us to update and replace our supply of Chromebooks. Thanks to our technology department for their efforts in making this happen. With these new devices, a couple of changes to our policies will take place that you should be aware of.

First, students should keep in mind these new devices soon to be assigned to them will, in most cases, be the same one they carry throughout their time in the Jr./Sr. Building, so they need to care for it as though it is their own. This Chromebook will need to last until graduation, so please treat it well.

Going forward, everyone should keep in mind the first accidental damage while in a student’s possession, will likely be covered by the district and/or the manufacturer’s warranty. Any damage costs which occur after that will be the responsibility of the student’s parents, up to and including full replacement of the Chromebook. Parents, please insist your students take good care of their devices.

These new devices require us to once again get parent/guardian signatures on the Technology Use and Safety Agreement and Student Handbook Acknowledgement signature page. A new Chromebook will not be distributed to your student without it.

Sincerely,

Tim Goggins
