On October 13th, the boys’ soccer team competed in districts against Kalamazoo Christian, where they ended their season with a 0-8 loss.


On October 14th, the Maple Valley Lions JV and Varsity Volleyball teams traveled to Springport for conference play.

The JV team had a fantastic night, sweeping the Spartans in three sets with scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-22, showcasing strong teamwork and consistency throughout the match.

The Varsity team battled hard but ultimately fell to Springport, dropping sets 12-25, 16-25, and 20-25. Despite the loss, the Lions showed determination and improvement across each set.

On October 16th, the Maple Valley Lions Volleyball teams hosted Bellevue for their annual Dig Pink Game, raising awareness for breast cancer and showing incredible spirit on and off the court.

The JV team started the night strong, earning a 2-0 victory with set scores of 25-22 and 25-23. Their energy and teamwork set the tone for an exciting evening of volleyball.

The Varsity team followed with an intense five-set battle that had fans on the edge of their seats. Despite their grit and determination, the Lions fell just short, with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 24-26, 26-24, and 13-15.


The Junior High Cross Country team raced last night in the Big 8 Conference Championship with an outstanding performance from both the girls and boys teams. The girls' team finished 2nd overall in the conference, led by Raegan Jones, who claimed 1st place as the Conference Champion with a new personal record. Right behind her was Adelita Tobias, who also earned All-Conference honors. Other top runners were Rece Nevins, Rieleigh Thompson, Jojo Tobias, and Karlee Davis, with both Rece and Rieleigh running their fastest times ever. The boys' team also earned a 2nd place overall finish, with Porter Bryson taking 1st place as the Conference Champion and Jaxson Eye finishing 2nd, both earning All-Conference recognition. Other top runners were Levi Whitford, who ran his fastest time yet, along with Ashton Wood and Jacob Blakely.

The Junior High Cross Country team competed last Saturday at the Gobles Invitational, racing against 17 other schools and turning in an impressive performance to close out their regular season. The girls’ team had a phenomenal meet, placing 2nd overall and bringing home a team trophy, with only Otsego finishing ahead of them. Four runners earned medals: Adelita Tobias, Jojo Tobias, Raegan Jones, and Rece Nevins, who also ran a new personal best time. Other top runners included Rieleigh Thompson, who ran her fastest time yet, and Karlee Davis, both contributing strong performances. On the boys’ side, the Lions were just one runner short of a full team but still made a statement. Porter Bryson claimed the title of overall champion, while Jaxson Eye finished 6th, both earning medals. Ashton Wood ran a personal best time, and Jacob Blakely rounded out the top performances.


On October 16th, the Maple Valley JV Football team traveled to Quincy, where they put up a strong fight but ultimately fell with a final score of 8-19. The Lions showed determination throughout the game, continuing to build momentum and teamwork as the season progresses.


The High School Cross Country team hosted the Big 8 Conference Championship last night on their home course. The girls’ team finished 5th overall in the conference, led by Melanie Jones, who ran just shy of a new personal record. Other top runners were Izabelle Soper, Athena Morehouse, and Lydia Emerick, all finishing strong for the Lions. The boys’ team placed 7th overall, with Tyler Curtis leading the way, running his second-fastest time ever. Following close behind were Cameron Murray, Grady Wilkes, Kelvin Davis, and Quincy Page, each putting in solid performances to round out the Lions’ season.

The High School Cross Country team competed last Saturday at the Gobles Invitational, taking on 21 other schools and turning in a strong showing. The girls’ team was led by Izabelle Soper, who finished in the top 30 and earned a medal for her performance. Other top runners included Lydia Emerick and Ada Marie Blakely, who both ran solid races to help lead the team. On the boys’ side, Tyler Curtis led the Lions with Cameron Murray finishing just a half-second behind. Both runners placed in the top 40 and earned medals for their efforts. Grady Wilkes and Quincy Page also posted strong times to round out Maple Valley’s top finishers.


On October 17th, the Maple Valley Varsity Football team faced off against Quincy at home in a hard-fought matchup. The Lions battled until the final whistle but came up just short, falling 14-17. It was a close game that showcased the team’s resilience and drive, keeping fans engaged from start to finish.
