On March 25th, the varsity baseball team traveled to Potterville for a doubleheader and came home with a dominant pair of wins.

In Game 1, the Lions controlled the pace from the start and secured a 7–1 victory behind solid play in the field and timely hitting at the plate. Game 2 saw even more offensive firepower, as the Lions erupted for 14 runs in a commanding 14–1 win.

Activites/Clubs

Battle Creek Robotics Competition

On March 28th and 29th, the MV Titans robotics team traveled to Battle Creek to compete in a weekend competition filled with innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Over the course of two days, the Titans competed in 12 qualifying matches, finishing the event ranked 20th overall with a 5–7–0 record. Each match gave the team opportunities to adjust strategy, refine performance, and work together under pressure against a wide range of competitors.

While the Titans were not selected to advance to the finals, the experience gained throughout the competition will help guide improvements and preparation for future events. The team represented Maple Valley with professionalism and determination throughout the weekend.

Staff Highlight

Amanda Shook staff portrait

Mrs. Amanda Shook has been a dedicated member of the Maple Valley community for 25 years, serving as a 4th-grade teacher and making a lasting impact on countless students along the way.

She began her educational journey at Lansing Community College, earning her Associate’s degree, and later graduated from Olivet College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Inspired by her mother’s 34-year teaching career with Lansing Public Schools, Mrs. Shook knew she wanted to pursue a profession where she could help others and make a meaningful difference.

One of her favorite aspects of working at Maple Valley is the close-knit community and the genuine care staff and students show for one another, both professionally and personally.

Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors with her dogs, and interior decorating. She encourages students to make each day count through their words and actions, reminding them that every day is an opportunity to spread kindness and joy.
