On February 24th, the varsity girls' basketball team hosted Bronson. The Lions fell 38-51 in the home matchup.
On February 26th, the girls' basketball teams competed in home games and came away with two strong wins. The JV team defeated Pennfield 28-14, while the Varsity team secured a 51-35 victory over Bellevue.
On February 25th, the varsity boys basketball team competed in the MHSAA District Semi-Finals against Delton Kellogg. The Lions battled in a tightly contested matchup but came up just short in a 52-54 loss, ending their district run in a hard-fought game.
Activites/Clubs
On February 26th, the 6th Grade Band had a concert in the High School Auditorium.
On February 27th, the Jr. High Student Council hosted their Semi-Formal dance. Their theme was “Walk the Red Carpet.”
On February 28th, the Jr. High and High School Concert Bands and the Jazz Band hosted their Pre-Festival concert to play their songs for everyone before competing in the MSBOA District Festival on March 3rd.
Staff Highlight
Ms. Ava Bennett serves as Maple Valley’s 8th Grade ELA Teacher and High School Publications Advisor. Now in her second year at Maple Valley, she has quickly become a valued member of the school community.
A graduate of Michigan State University, Ms. Bennett continues to further her education through online classes. She shared that the amazing and welcoming community in The Valley inspired her to pursue becoming an educator here.
Her favorite part about working at Maple Valley is the never-ending support from colleagues, students, and families, which helps keep her focused on inspiring her students each day.
When she’s not at school, Ms. Bennett enjoys spending time being creative. Diamond painting, puzzling, building Legos, and reading for fun are some of her favorite hobbies.
Her advice to students is simple but powerful: “Treat people the way you'd like to be treated.”
