This year’s fall musical, Little Shop of Horrors, lit up the stage with incredible talent, energy, and creativity! From the vibrant performances to the impressive set and technical work, the production showcased the hard work and dedication of our student cast and crew.
A huge congratulations to the entire cast, crew, pit musicians, and directors for putting on an outstanding production. The Maple Valley community is proud of you!
Staff Highlight
This week, we are highlighting Mr. Leatherman, who is the Director of Technology for Maple Valley. He has been at Maple Valley for 16 years. Mr. Leatherman is a Battle Creek Central graduate who started his higher education at Kellogg Community College before transferring to and graduating from Olivet College. His education journey began after moving to the Nashville area when he got married. While serving as a youth group leader at Grace Community Church, he was encouraged to consider teaching mathematics rather than pursuing his engineering degree. Believing strongly in serving the community where you live, he saw education as a meaningful way to stay involved in the lives of students and to invest fully in the community he now called home.
When asked what he enjoys most about working in Maple Valley, Mr. Leatherman shared that it’s the opportunity to stay deeply connected to the community in a supportive and impactful way.
Outside of school, family and friends are his world. He serves as an Elder and Music Director at Living Waters Church and enjoys fishing, golfing, disc golfing, and playing video games.
His advice for students: “Keep your head up, jump through the hoops, and work to find your joy in becoming a productive and supportive part of your community.”
