The Wrestling team traveled to Union City on January 22nd to compete in a Big 8 Quad, facing tough competition against the Springport Spartans and the Union City Chargers. Despite their best efforts, the team fell short in both matchups but had notable individual performances. In the first match against Springport, the team was defeated with a final score of 5-22. Filip Nowak secured a victory in the 144 lb weight class, while Jackson Burpee delivered a strong performance to win in the 190 lb weight class. The second match saw the team facing host Union City where they won resulting in a 9-72 defeat. Filip Nowak continued his strong performance for the evening, earning another win in the 144 lb weight class.

The JV and Varsity girls’ basketball teams faced tough competition on their home court on January 23rd, hosting the Concord Yellow Jackets in a pair of challenging games. Despite their efforts, both teams came up short. In the JV game, Concord ultimately pulled ahead, handing the JV team a 23-30 loss. The Varsity team, despite battling hard, was defeated with a final score of 27-64.
On January 24th the JV Boys' Basketball team traveled to Concord High School and won and the Varsity team was defeated by Concord scoring 38-71.


The JV & Varsity boys’s basketball teams delivered impressive performances on January 22nd as they faced the Delton Kellogg Panthers on their home court. Both teams walked away with hard-earned victories demonstrating this skill, determination, and teamwork. In the JV match-up, the boys dominated the game with a final score of 53-27. The Varsity team followed with a nail-biting contest that kept fans on the edge until the final buzzer. In a tightly contested game, the varsity boys managed to secure a thrilling 46-45 victory over the Panthers.

The JV and Varsity girls’ basketball teams hosted the Bronson Vikings on their home court, battling hard but ultimately short in both matchups. In the JV game, the team remained competitive throughout, but the Bronson Vikings secured an 18-25 victory. The Varsity team faced a tough challenge against a dominant Bronson squad. Despite their determination the Vikings took control early and maintained their lead, defeating the Varsity girls with a final score of 12-52.
On January 25th, the Wrestling team traveled to Fennville High School to compete in the Blackhawk Invite, going up against 17 schools. The team delivered strong performances, earning multiple individual placements and finishing 6th overall with a team score of 73 points. Leading the way was Jackson Burpee in first place in the 190 lb weight class. Filip Nowak (144 lbs), Roman Schilx (113 lbs), and Tyrese Robinson (215 lbs) each secured 2nd place in their respective weight classes, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination on the mat. Congratulations to all the wrestlers!
Activites/Clubs

Senior Highlights
Tsolmon Batbold
After High School, Tsolmon wants to go to college to study engineering or become a plastic surgeon. The teacher who had the biggest impact on her was Mr. Wilhelm; she says she can go to him anytime she needs help. After Graduation Tsolmon wants to start her own business. Some advice she would give to incoming freshmen is to get lots of sleep. She says it is an exchange year so she tried a lot of new things, everything being the highlight of my senior year here, it was a good experience in her life.

Isaac Crane

After High School Isaac plans on going into MCTI or a part-time job, the Teachers that had the biggest impact were Mr. Rosin, Mrs. Letherman, and Willy. Mr. Rosin wanted him to try out for choir and he liked it. Mrs. Leatherman helps me a lot through school. Willy makes me laugh. After Graduation Isaac Looks forward to his MCTI, hanging out with his friends, and helping his parents. Some advice he would give to the upcoming freshman is to never give up and try new things. The highlight of his senior year was the last football game for the marching band.
Emily Reitz
After High School Emily plans on studying elementary education. The teacher who has had the biggest impact on Emily is Mrs. Webb. Emily said she’s a great teacher and actually cares about you and I can always go to her if I have a problem. She looks forward to becoming a teacher after High School. Some advice she would give to the incoming freshmen is to have fun and be involved in some type of social community or extracurricular activities, the highlight of her senior year was the powderpuff game with her friends.

Staff Highlight

Karissa Kellogg, who is a proud Maple Valley graduate, and a third-grade teacher, chose to return to her roots to make a difference in the community she calls home. A graduate of Western Governors University, she cherishes the close-knit, family-like culture of Maple Valley, where everyone looks out for one another. Outside of teaching, she values time spent with her family. Her advice to students is simple, yet powerful: “Don’t give up, nobody will chase your dreams for you. If you fail get back up and try again.”
