Weather Communication Notification 12.9.25

Dear Maple Valley Families,

We have been fortunate to keep school open so far this winter. Much to our students’ delight, that may change tonight. I wanted to update you of our winter weather communications just in case we have to cancel.  We may have a cancellation this evening or early in the morning depending upon how the storm tracks according to the models we are watching, and the local conditions. This winter is forecasted to be a challenge, so please consider the following. 

Please remember to update your contact information with our offices to ensure you receive the robocall and email notifications.   We have heard some folks are not receiving our communications.  We continue to work on this. If, for any reason, you do not receive either a robocall or email notification, please contact the office of your child’s school and leave a message so we can determine why you were not notified. Currently, we notify Mom, Dad, StepMom, StepDad and Guardians. Please be sure your information is correct. Also, be aware you can customize the types of information you receive from Maple Valley Schools. Please contact your school office for assistance with any changes.

Should you not receive any direct notifications, be advised we also post our status on news stations, our website, and Facebook pages.

Be prepared all winter for any slowdowns in pick-up or drop-off if we are in school.  Slow and steady is how we keep everyone safe. This is a good time of year for contingency planning with your kids for early releases and snow day supervision. 

We plan to allow after-school practices and games this evening as the storm is not supposed to get severe until 10 p.m. For the winter season, our coaches have been informed to excuse any athletes who cannot safely get to school for practices. Coaches will communicate with you through the Sports YOU App.  All athlete parents benefit from having access to this App.
