Food Assistance Information

Please see this ARTICLE regarding Food Assistance

Dear families of Maple Valley,

With the impending stoppage of SNAP and WIC benefits for families, we wanted to share more information with you to help support food security for our families.  We are including a posting from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, as well as the Community suppers we are currently aware of in our area.  Finally, we have contact information for our local United Way programs.

When we face adversity, it is good to know our community is here for us all. We will continue to supply information for food security as we continue our efforts to develop more partnerships for the benefit of our kids and our families.

Food Assistance Information

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has posted the following message on the MDHHS website: “Per the USDA Food and Nutrition Service, due to the federal government shutdown, there may be a delay in issuing November 2025 Food Assistance Program benefits.”For families that may need assistance with food, please access the following resources:

We are working to create a weekend meal kit program that will start in the near future.  When the details are complete, we will advise our families.

The Nashville Nazarene Church at 301 Fuller Street invites the community to their Thanksgiving Community Meal on November 19th @ 6 pm.  They will also have a community meal on December 17th @ 6 pm. Starting in the New Year, their community meals are held on the last Wednesday of every month at 6 pm.

The United Methodist Church @ 210 Washington Street in Nashville is hosting a fundraiser meal on November 16th from 5-6 pm.  Donations are accepted, but not required. Everyone is welcome.

We also strongly advocate for contacting United Way Programs within your county for additional assistance. United Way South Central Michigan serves Eaton County. The Barry Community Foundation is working in partnership with the Barry County United Way (269-945-4010) to provide financial support to local food banks during this difficult time.

We will continue posting updates on our Facebook sites and School News as other programs are developed.

We stand together in community with our families.
